Sagaing is around 20kms south-west of Mandalay and is reached by crossing the Irrawaddy River by one of two bridges.There are numerous temples, spires, stupas and monasteries many of which are dotted around Sagaing Hill.. It makes a quite unusual sight especially when seen from high up the hill (from Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda)

Many Arakna was trying to achieve success at this time under the king of land called MINNBA GRI who was not only a hero but also a nationalist. Everyone admired him because of his soft power and practical action. The Arakanese kingdom was conquered on 31 December 1784 by the Burmese Konbaung Dynasty. In 1826, Arakan was ceded to the British as war reparation after the First Anglo-Burmese War. It became part of the Province of Burma of British India in 1886, after the annexation of Burma by the British.

Many people, even the poor, always willing to give alms of food or money to monks or nuns and they feel very happy with the action.
